Support Screentest

Screentest is completely student run, relying on sponsorship and admission fees to produce the events of the weekend and promote hundreds of promising young screenwriters, directors, producers, actors and everyone else who comes together to produce films submitted to the festival.

As a result, there are a number of ways you can help us achieve the best possible event for 2009 and beyond.

Sponsors
Screentest is actively looking for sponsors to work with the festival, swapping our access to students and young people across the country for financial support for the festival. Advertising is available on tickets, crew tshirts, dvds, programmes, banners, leaflets as well as on the stages and screens at the festival itself, and on this website.

Previous or current sponsors include Sub TV, Deloitte, Odeon, Cobra, BAFTA, The UK Film Council and Avid. We are looking to make 2009 the strongest festival to date and urge any interested parties to email [email protected]

Filmmakers and Students
We would be nothing without the films shown at our festival and the people that attend the festival to watch. Last year students came from far and wide across the country, with large parties from Southampton and Belfast among other places. Everyone who came had a blast and we hope even more people will be encouraged to come and experience the festival firsthand, especially if you have submitted a film to us! Our lavish awards ceremony is always a highlight and past prizes have included a copy of Avid editing software worth £1000!

Details of the kinds of films we are looking for will be put up soon on the submissions page. The festival itself will be held in Bristol on the weekend of the 6hth March to the 8th March 2009. Further details on tickets, lineups and accommodation will be posted on the website in the coming months.

Organisers
Screentest is organised entirely by students and is always looking to recruit new members to help organise and hold this big event. If you study at Bristol (or even if you don’t!) Screentest is a great opportunity to do an extracurricular activity that’s both fun and rewarding, with great opportunities to learn more about the film industry and link up with the people within it.

We are looking for students to help us with all aspects of the festival both this year and in future years. There are many different jobs - event planning, distribution (watching and judging the films and turning them into the right format for the festival and dvds), sponsorship, outreach, website design and maintenance, arranging guest speakers, ushering and showing the films themselves. We continue to be closely linked with UBFS (University of Bristol Filmmaking Society) and there is plenty of opportunities to make films both related to the festival and purely for the sake of making films! UBFS has a fully kitted out editing suite with two editing pcs as well as cameras available to members.

If you are interested in joining Screentest and UBFS, either come along at Fresh in September or email [email protected]. We are especially keen to talk to any UWE students interested in helping us reach out to all of the students in the city.
