Hi guys, by now I’m hoping a lot of you who were looking at the old site have come to the new spangly one and seen all our new content. We’re hoping our new forum will provide you with a place to chat about your films.
The site is nearly done but one thing we’re still working on is a submission form for you to send in your films with. We’re going to use a PDF this year and that should be uploaded shortly. The guidelines are the same as last year:

Screentest National Student Film Festival will take place on the 29th February, 1st and 2nd of Mach 2008 in Bristol. Submitted films will be watched by a selection panel to decide if they are suitable for inclusion in the festival. We will let you know if your film has been accepted. By submitting your film you also consent to it being screened by any part of the Screentest Distribution Network.
Guidelines
- To enter the festival you must have been a student of a higher or further education institute during the majority of film production.
- Films should be submitted as a PAL recording on a mini-DV tape. It is helpful if the film is preceded on the tape by a few seconds of black. You may also submit on a DVD or .avi file though we recommend mini-DV tape.
- Films should be less than 30 minutes long. Remember this is a short film festival; generally only documentaries should be longer than 20 minutes.
- Films must not breach copyright laws. The most common problem is using music you don’t have the rights to use. If you are unsure whether your film is breaking these regulations feel free to contact us to check if we can accept your film.
- You may enter more than one film, and can use the same tape for more than one film if you wish.
- You must include a separate entry form for each film you submit.
- If you want your tape returned you must include a stamped addressed envelope.
- Submissions must be received by the 31st of January 2007. Please contact us to request an extended deadline. Films received after the 31st of January may become ineligible for awards.
We hope that you’re already thinking about films to submit for 2008′s festival! Keep an eye on the site for the new entry form – as soon as that is uploaded we will be open to submissions and you can send them to us at
